Ladies & Gentlemen...
We have a sleeper! I didn't want to post about it until I was pretty sure that Brennan was going to stick to his new sleeping schedule.

For the past few weeks since he got sick, his sleeping increased during the night. After he got better, he didn't sleep as much, but we were getting like 6 hours. Well, for about a week now he's been sleeping at least 8! Yay! Finally, I don't look like HELL during the day anymore!

Guess Who Peed in the Potty...
Well, not really in the potty, but all over my bathroom floor...that's right, Brennan! No, just kidding, it was Colin!

We have been trying for a while to start potty training, but it hasn't been going so well. We bought the little potty chair last December when Colin started showing interest. He actually went in the potty a few times...but mommy was pregnant with Brennan, and as my belly started growing, Colin decided that he didn't want to go in the potty anymore.

So here we are, a year later (he's 2 years and 4 months), and we've been trying to entice him to go. We went out and bought a toy from his favorite show (The Little Einsteins). We kept it in the bathroom until he peed in the potty.

I've been asking him everyday for almost a month if he wants to sit on the potty and pee so he can have his toy. He's always told me no until tonight! So, I stripped him down, sat him on the potty, and we waited, and waited...and. waited. some. more. Did I mention that we waited? Finally, after 15 minutes of waiting in the bathroom with Colin, I decided to go put my pajamas on. I was gone for 1 minute and on my way back into the bathroom I heard Colin saying "poop on the floor mommy".  Man, I was hoping that there wasn't poop on the floor. I got back in and realized that it wasn't poop, but pee on the floor. Colin had tried to pee in the potty! There was a little in the potty, but most of it was on the floor. I guess the thing goes crazy when pee-ing?

Anyway, Miguel and I are so proud of Colin. We praised him, gave him hugs, kisses....and of course, that new toy! Let's hope that he keeps it up!

Worst Mother of 2008...is ME :-(
I've been meaning to post this for a few days, but was embarrassed, so I held off...but here I go.

I give myself the 'Worst Mother of 2008' award. Award? Maybe, not, but I get it anyway...

On December 31...the last day in 2008, mind you, I decided to pay bills. I filled out all of my checks, put them in envelopes, stamped them, and then ran out to my mailbox to put them in. Colin wanted to come outside with me...but soon realized that it was pretty cold. So, as I ran to the mailbox (which is only at the end of my driveway), Colin went back into the house, closed the door...and, get this...LOCKED IT! Yes, you read correctly, Colin locked my front door. Don't ask me how, but once he locked it, he couldn't unlock it to let me back in.

So, here I am in 40 degree weather, no jacket on, only in a pair of socks, a t-shirt, and pajama pants, while my 2 year old has free reign of the house while my 11 week old was sleeping happily in his bouncy seat. I didn't have my phone with me either. My hair was a wreck, and I don't even think I had brushed my teeth yet.

I ran to my neighbors (and friend) house. She gave me a jacket to wear and let me borrow her cell phone so I could call Miguel. I ran back to my house, tried to talk Colin into unlocking the door, but he just didn't understand. He started crying, and I started to freak out. Miguel was on his way...but it would still take him like 20 minutes to get home. I ran to the back of the house to look through my back window, where I was able to see both kids. Colin calmed down. I ran through a puddle in my backyard, so not only was I only in socks, but now they were dirty, wet, socks. I was so cold!

Miguel finally made it home...I think he raced here, and let us in. I've now decided that I'm going to carry my keys and my phone with me at all times...even to the mailbox.

Do you think I won the 'award'? I do.

New Year's Eve

Hello everyone! First I would like to say "Happy New Year" to all!

Miguel's mom offered to watch the boys so we could go out. Yay! Last night Miguel's brother Danny, his girlfriend Rossilyn, Miguel and I went to Houlihan's in Addison for dinner. It was my first time there, and I really enjoyed it! Great suggestion Danny!

After dinner we went over to The Londoner to have some drinks and finish out the evening. The handed out favors...noise makers, crowns, hats etc. We had a champagne toast right at midnight. We had a great time!

I was a little nervous about the drive home...not because of us, but because of all of the idiots on the road that 'thought' they could drive. Miguel drove nice and slow, and praise God we made it home safe!

I hope this new year brings many laughs, few sorrows and is prosperous for all! God bless!

A Comparison Thus Far...con't.
2 Months Old
Colin - TOP Brennan - Bottom
I don't think they look at all alike here. All of Colin's hair had fallen out by this point. Brennan's nose is a lottle wider. They have similar lips, but very different eye shapes.

Sleeping
I've been meaning to post for about a week now, I just haven't gotten around to it.

Since Brennan got sick last Sunday, he's been sleeping through the night. Granted, when he was sick he was sleeping A LOT...like 12 hour stretches, but since he's been better he's averaging 6-8 hour stretches with more of them being 8. Yay! I'm almost back to a normal sleep schedule!

Brennan started much earlier (about 4 weeks earlier than Colin), and with Colin we forced it. We just let him cry. So far, Brennan is doing it all on his own!
An Amazing Woman
I came across a blog a few days ago (via a comment on a friends blog), and started reading her blog from the beginning. It's the story of a preemie that entered the world, lived to bring joy to her parents for 2 1/2 hours, and passed.

The amazing part is the faith that the mom, Angie, has. She is an inspiration to me. Her love for God is above all and she is at peace.

I can only hope to be like her. If I could have even just an ounce of her faith, I would be such a different person.

So, today, I start over. I want what she has. I want the peace that she has. I want the love that she has. I want the kindness that she has. I want the faith that she has.

Visit her blog, and read from the beginning to see what an amazing woman she is.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Christmas day is always spent at my moms house. Miguel, the boys and I went over in the morning to open gifts. Colin & Rachael had so much fun. The part that they enjoyed the most was playing in the pile of paper!
After gifts, we went home to rest for a bit and then went back to moms house in the afternoon for dinner with everyone. Almost all of Miguel's family were there too. We had such a great time. After dinner we played Apples to Apples for hours on end. We are so blessed to be near family during this time!
