Super Sick Kristen
I had a HORRIBLE day on Monday! I woke up not feeling so great. Hit the bathroom a few times. It was Colin's last day of Kindermusik class for the semester, so I got us all ready and went. By the time the class was over, my stomach was grumbling again. I just figured that I needed to eat lunch. The boys, my mom and I went to eat lunch. I barely touched it b/c I was feeling so well. By the time lunch was over, I had made 2 more trips to the bathroom. I dropped my mom off at her house, and she watched Colin for me for a while. I went home, put Brennan down for a nap and I napped for 2 hours. When I woke up, the bathroom called me a couple more times. Then I got Brennan together and we went to the grocery store. I got really sick while in there and almost passed out. The stomach pains we horrible.  I barely made it back to my moms house. When she saw me she decided that she was calling Miguel to have him come home and she was taking me to the ER. She said that I had no color at all. 4 hours, 2 liters of fluid, 2 rounds of nausea medication and a couple rounds of pain medication later I was feeling slightly better. The doctor wanted to keep me over night, but I didn't want to stay, so I came home.
Yesterday I still felt horrible. Miguel was nice enough to stay home and take care of the boys for me. Thank God he did, because I never would have been able to do it. I slept pretty much all day long. I was still running to the bathroom and I had a terrible headache. I finally started feeling better yesterday evening. This morning I feel fine...except that I am still running to the bathroom. When will it end?
I went to the ER that I work at, so my co-workers were taking care of me. Kind of ironic.

Spoke Too Soon...
Impatient me. That's what I get.
Insert foot in mouth.
I got offered the job at the other hospital a little while ago. Praise God! I guess I feel a little bit better, a little more wanted.
I'm still deciding what to do about it. I guess there are several options...take it and leave my current or decline it and stay at my current or take it and work at both places.
There are pros and cons to both places, so I just need to figure out what is best for our family right now.
Thank you all for your prayers. Prayer works!

Bad news?
I haven't heard back from the hospital yet, so I'm guess that I didn't get the job :-(

Thanks for Prayers
So, I had my interview today. It was at Presby Allen. I was very nervous, but I did the best that I could. Like I said yesterday, I know that I am qualified for the job, I'm just a socially anxious person. I fumbled over my words, and completely forgot to mention a critical point in a "What If..." scenario. It finally came to me, but not before I made myself look like an idiot. I did great on the other "What If" scenarios...I just can't help thinking about the one that I fumbled on. Darn me. Anyway, they are a smaller hospital with fewer ER beds and less interventions than I am used to, so yes, I am qualified! I must keep telling myself that. I interviewed with the Director and the Manager of the ER. After the interview, they took me on a tour of the ER, and then I said bye. They told me to expect to hear back in "a day or so." Good or bad? Thoughts?

Interview Tomorrow
I just wanted to put up a quick post to ask everyone for your prayers for me tomorrow. I have my interview at the new hospital at 10:00 am. I'm very nervous. I'm not nervous over my qualifications...I know I'm qualified...I'm just a very shy socially anxious person. I have a very hard time meeting new people.
Anyway, if you could just ask the Big Guy to be with me tomorrow, I'd appreciate it!

Prayers Please!!!
I've been getting sent home from work early just about each shift that I've worked for the past couple of weeks. It's frustrating, but more than that, we count on the money that I earn...and I haven't been getting all of it. So, I filled out an application for another local hospital on Monday. On Tuesday I got a e-mail invitation to complete their online assessment. The assessment is basically asking your reactions to certain situations. It's a pretty general test, but you have to score a certain way to move one. Immediately after I submitted the assessment, I was sent an e-mail to complete a more thorough nursing assessment...again asking what I would do in certain situations...this time situations related to nursing. I sent that in, and received a call from the hospital's recruiter this morning! Whoo-hoo! That was the FASTEST that an HR office has ever gotten back to me!
I have an interview set up for Monday, May 4. I would have done it sooner, but we are leaving for vacation tomorrow. Please pray that I do well in my interview! I'll update closer to the date, but I am just so excited that I had to post about it today!

A New Venture...

I'm toying with the idea of becoming a Pampered Chef consultant...again. I did it a few years back, but I just wanted the starter kit and everything in it for the super cheap price. Now I want to do it to make a little extra money. It wouldn't be a full time job or anything, because, well, I don't want a full time job. I don't even work full time as a nurse! Anyway, I'm super shy, and thought that this might be a good way to help break me out of my shell a little bit. I love their products, and already have a ton...so why not sell it, make some money, and have some girlfriend time? Thoughts?

The Grocery Game
Yes ladies and gents, I'm playing The Grocery Game! I'm slightly addicted. It's so much fun to see how much you can save!

For the last 3 weeks, I have been collecting coupons and stockpiling items that are really low-priced. I've even gotten a bunch of stuff for FREE or nearly free. It's amazing!

The first week I got $68 worth of stuff for under $10. Last week I got $168 worth of stuff for around $20. This week I got $123.36 worth of stuff for $17.07 Those prices are my stockpile prices only...it doesn't include my weekly groceries.

Including my weekly groceries, this week I spent $87.58 for $218.04 worth of groceries. I'd say that is pretty awesome!

Again...
A few years ago, probably about 4 or 5 I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My grandmother, mother and sister all have this condition. I was put on synthroid. About 2 months later, I stopped taking the synthroid and my thyroid levels have been normal since then.
I noticed about a month ago that my neck looked 'fat'. I asked a few family members if it looked fat, and everyone said no...but I knew it was. I went to my OB/GYN the Wednesday for a well woman visit, and she felt my neck. She said that my thyroid is in fact enlarged. She sent my blood over for a TSH level.
I just got called this morning and they said that my TSH level is elevated (31.4...normal is 0.3-4.0), which means that I, once again, have hypothyroidism. I'll be started on synthroid again, and my blood will be re-drawn in 4 weeks to check the TSH level again.
Symptoms of hypothyroidism:
  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
  • Coarse, dry hair
  • Dry, rough pale skin
  • Hair loss
  • Cold intolerance (can't tolerate the cold like those around you)
  • Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
  • Constipation
  • Depression
  • Irritability
  • Memory loss
  • Abnormal menstrual cycles
  • Decreased libido
I have a vast majority of those symptoms, but just chalked it up to motherhood, little sleep and poor diet. I guess I should have trusted my instinct about my 'fat' neck! ;) Hopefully I'll be feeling more energized soon!

The Love Dare Blog
So, I did go ahead and start a new blog to follow my journey through The Love Dare. I just have a simple template for now, since I couldn't get the one to work that I wanted. I'll work on it a little more tomorrow.
Not much posting up yet either, just the initial and some background.
It can be found here: Kristen's Love Dare Journey

The Love Dare
So a few nights ago, Miguel and I started The Love Dare. I'm really enjoying it so far. I look forward to reading it each evening and completing the challenge each day.

I'm considering starting a new blog to follow my journey through the book. Not sure yet if I want to do it on this blog or start a new one... I see pro's and con's to doing it each way.

Life Organization
It's been a long time coming, but the 'closet' of my life needs some spring cleaning and re-organization. I don't want to do it, and it's going to suck. Oh, it's going to SUCK...but it needs doing...

There are so many things that I want to be and do...but there just isn't enough time for all of it. There are so many plans that I have, aspirations & goals...but I can't do them all. Not right now. Not all at the same time.

Currently, I am juggling: caring for my boys, being a good wife, working 16 hours a week, spending time with family, trying (not doing a very good job) to be a good Christian, attending church, doing housework, starting a small online business, being an Assistant Organizer of a very active mother's group, Colin's Kindermusik class, finding time for friends outside of my mother's group, going to the gym, and getting the daily errands complete.

Here are some of the things that I want to do in addition (in no particular order...just as they come to me): have a successful online business, learn to sew, have a personal relationship with God (which requires time...time I'm not making for it right now), digi scrap more often (this is almost non-existent right now), play more WoW & Halo, become more active in church, foster loving Godly friendships, and work on my photography hobby.

So, if you can help me find some more time...let me in on the secret!

***I started this post on Saturday, but only got around to finishing it this morning 3/13***

Haircut.

I don't know if I'm up for a new style just yet...but I do at least need a haircut. Maybe tomorrow.

The question is: to bang or not to bang?

Work
I just wanted to say that I LOVED working the night shift last night! I was so much more laid back than the day shift, and I had a lot of fun! I ended up going home at 2:00 am instead of 3:00 am because the ER was super slow...but I totally could have lasted the last hour.

I actually enjoyed it so much that I am considering changing my Tuesday day shift to a Tuesday night shift!

Misc.
The portraits of the boys turned out super adorable today! I can't wait to get them back so I can post them and show all of you!

I'm going to be working my very first night shift EVER, tonight. I'm really nervous, but I hope that it goes well because, hey, I'll be working while everyone is sleeping, so I won't be missed...and I won't feel bad about being away from my boys! It's only going t0 be 8 hours...so I'll be working from 7 pm to 3 am. I tried to get a little nap in this afternoon...and little it was! I'll update tomorrow or something to let you know how it turned out!

No Work for Me
How frustrating...

It took me 2 hours to prepare last night for the boys to go to the sitters house today. I made schedules for both of them, and emergency contact sheet with permission for medical treatment, packed their bag, made Colin's breakfast & lunch, got bottles ready for Brennan, put the car seats in Miguel's car, packed the bouncy seat & the pack 'n play etc.

I mentally prepared myself to leave Brennan, and left for work this morning only to find that my manager made a mistake and never put me on the schedule...so, they sent me home. Ugh.

Turns out that I wasn't on the schedule for Thursday night either, so I added myself. We'll see what happens.

Off to Work Tomorrow
I'm really nervous about my first day back at work. It's not that I'm nervous about work...even though I haven't been there in practically 4 months...but I'm nervous about leaving Brennan. Colin doesn't worry me anymore, he's a big boy now...but Brennan is so small. I know that I don't really have anything to worry about, but I'm sure I'll call the sitter about 1000 times tomorrow just to check on them.
